| Yaseen for streamlining states transport system | | | Srinagar, October 05 –The government is taking initiative to re-organize the transport system in the Jammu and Kashmir state, to provide better transport facilities to the public. Besides regularizing SRTC bus services the government is also taking steps to streamline the private transport. This was revealed in a joint meeting of concerned officers and representatives of Srinagar Mini Bus Transport Federation held under the chairmanship of Transport Minister, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen here today. Among others, Member Assembly Kangan Mian Altaf Ahmad, Transport Commissioner Mr. Tikoo, RTO Kashmir Parvez Malik, Managing Director SRTC Sanjeev Verma, Special Secretary Transport Mr. Haq Nawaz, S.S.P Ganderbal and S.P. Traffic were present in the meeting. During the meeting MLA Ganderbal urged the Minister and concerned authorities for plying of additional buses to his constituency during morning and afternoon peak hours from Soura to Ganderbal, Chhatergul to Babanagri areas, in view of lack of better transport facilities, over loading and other problems. The Minister assured the MLA of immediate and serious efforts for providing better transport facilities to his constituency. It was given out that currently 115 SRTC buses are plying in the city in addition to two thousand Mini-buses. Addressing the meeting, Hakeem Yasin said that the matter related to renovation of bus stations in Pantha Chowk, Batamaloo and other places and equipping them with the basic facilities, would be taken up with the Minister of Urban Development. The Minister instructed the Managing Director, SRTC to make all drivers and conductors wear uniforms and transfer the employees posted at a particular place for many years. He also asked the concerned jto submit the details of revenue earned from SRTC buses. He asked the concerned authorities to provide bus services for the wedding parties to earn additional revenue. |
