| Army exchanges sweets across the border to mark Eid | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOV 28: The White Knight Corps celebrated Eid-ul-Azha at Nagrota on the auspicious occasion of Eid amidst great fervor and gaiety and even exchanged sweets across the border at various points. Spokesperson said that in the forward areas the White Knight Corps also organised exchange of sweets across the border at the Chakan–de–Bagh and Mendhar-Tattapani crossings to celebrate the occasion with the troops deployed across the borders. Spokesperson said that special Namaaz and prayers were offered by the officers and PBOR in the station Masjid when a large gathering attended the religious proceedings. The ceremony was attended also by Maj General RH Vardhan, Chief of Staff, Brigadier Umar Farook and others at the Garrison Masjid. All present offered special prayers for peace and prosperity during the solemn occasion reflecting the secular character of the Indian Army. The celebrations were also held in all stations in the White Knight Corps. After the prayer ceremony food and sweets were offered to all present which also comprised of a large number of civilians. The festivities continued throughout the day by means of offering prayers, exchange of gifts and serving of food during the celebrations. |
