| Governor hosts Iftaar party | | |
Srinagar, October 05 – Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) S. K. Sinha today hosted Iftaar party at the sprawling SKICC, the first such get together hosted by any dignitary this Ramzan. Last year, the Governor had dispensed with this tradition due to colossal damage and loss of life in the wake of earthquake. Chief Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad was among the high profile invitees. Soon after, their arrival the quests had Iftaar with sweetened milk and dates. Then they proceeded for the prayers led by an Imam of a mosque adjacent to Raj Bhawan. The Governor received the quests and met each of them individually. After in black Sheerwani and Karakuli, the traditional Kashmiri cap, Gen. Sinha kept interacting with non-Muslims guests who joined their Muslim brothern on the occasion. Among those present were Chairman Legislative Council Mr. Abdul Rashid Dar, several ministers, legislators, senior civil, police, military and Security force officers including Chief Secretary, Mr. C. Phunsog and Director General of Police Mr. Gopal Sharma. The Principal Secretary to Governor Dr. Arun Kumar was also present on the occasion. |
