Dy. CM convenes DDB review meeting
Rs.63 Cr Plan outlay of Udhampur reviewed

UDHAMPUR, NOV-30:- On the directions of Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah, a meeting to review the implementation of decisions taken in the District Development Board (DDB) meeting of Udhampur district was held here today with Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman of DDB Udhampur, Mr. Tara Chand in the chair.
In the meeting, Rs.63.72 crore annual plan outlay of Udhampur district for the current financial year was reviewed thoroughly by the Deputy Chief Minister. He dwelt in detail on major projects under execution in the district and implementation of various decisions taken in DDB meeting held during the first week of October, 2009 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister.
Legislators, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh, Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia, Mr. Krishan Chander Bhagat and Mr. Baldev Raj Sharma, District Development Commissioner (DDC), Udhampur, Mr. Ajay Khajuria, SSP Udhampur, Mr. Surinder Gupta, Presidents of Municipalities and heads of various departments attended the meeting.
The Deputy Chief Minister stressed upon the officers to take keen interest in implementing the decisions of DDB meetings so that the results are visible on the ground. He also called for accelerating the pace of development schemes by working in double shifts, wherever required for ensuring time bound completion of works.
Stressing on achieving the targets and optimum utilization of funds, Mr. Tara Chand called upon the officers to focus their attention on the underdeveloped and backward areas of the district by taking the Legislators of the areas into confidence besides keeping the elected representatives abreast with details of State and Centrally sponsored schemes.
Responding to the demands put forth by Mr. Mankotia, the Deputy Chief Minister asked the Managing Director, Housing Board and DDC Udhampur to conduct a joint survey of the peripheral areas of Udhampur town to find out the feasibility for construction of alternate housing colony.
Warning officers against slackness in implementation of the decisions of DDB meetings, the Deputy Chief Minister said that honest and dedicated officers would be suitably encouraged while the officers showing poor performance would be taken to task.
MLA Ramnagar, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh briefed the chair about problems in his constituency pertaining to PWD, ERA and NABARD funded projects besides health, education, agriculture, horticulture and power sectors. He called for completing the construction of roads at Kuh Nallah and Khagote at the earliest, bringing four blocks of Ramnagar tehsil under the ambit of DPAP, inclusion of hilly areas under RBA etc.
Similarly MLA, Udhampur, Chenani and Reasi also spoke about the problems of their constituencies.
Earlier, the DDC gave details of sector-wise achievements registered so far in the district under various schemes. He further apprised that out of total outlay of Rs.63.72 crore for the current fiscal, Rs.46.38 crore stands released and funds to the tune of Rs. 17.17 crore have been expending so far registering 37 per cent achievement till November end.
