| Rangoli competition | | Kanwar Iqbal won first prize | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 30: Kanwar Iqbal of government medical college made his presence felt again today bagged first prize in the rangoli competition, organized by the department of students welfare, University of Jammu under the “Display Your Talent” 2009-10 while Anjali Jamwal of Government college for women, Gandhi Nagar and Suman Kumari, Cosmic college of education, Lakhanpur bagged second and third prize, respectively. The certificates of merit were awarded to Ritika Rajput of Government Degree college, Hiranagar, Babita Kumari of Taawish college of education, Vidhu Sharma, Bhartiya college of education, Udhampur, Anshu Bala and Priyanka Dogra both from Government PG college (Boys), Udhampur and Preeti Sharma from government college for women, Parade. As per press release this art is known differently in various regions such as Chauk Poorna, Mandna, Alpana, Kolam and Rangoli etc. For this the medium and form for expression was free hand, pictorial and descriptive. The participants prepared beautiful Rangolies using flower petals, saw dust, gulal, pulses and rice etc. The glowing light of the earthen lamps and candles added to the beauty of Rangolies. Fifty eight students from the various training department of the university and its affiliated colleges participated in Rangoli competition. Dr. Shubhra Kapoor, Dr. TS Batra and Suresh Sharma were the judges on this occasion.
