| CAT server down echoes in Lok Sabha | | | Agencies New Delhi, Dec 1 Computer glitches affecting hundreds of students taking the Common Admission Test(CAT) for Indian Institutes of Management(IIMs) across the country today echoed in Lok Sabha when BJP deputy leader Sushma Swaraj raised the issue during Zero Hour. Pointing out that the "CAT mess" has affected India's image as an IT(information technology) power, the saffron leader said of the 49 centres where students undertook the test, eight Centres in Bhopal and eleven at the nation's IT capital of Bangalore were affected on November 28. The glitches in the first online examination left as many as 1,500 students high and dry when computers crashed, software played dicey showing two instead of four answers or when website did not open at all, she added. The saffron leader said when she watched news television channels scrolling "CAT eaten by Mouse" on Saturday last, the first day of the test which is to continue till December 10, she first thought it to be a joke but it turned out to be an accident. She said now that the problem has persisted it cannot be termed an isolated incident or an aberration and hence must be looked into in interest of a large number of students who take this test annually and to protect the image of the country as an IT power.
