| Tinkering with reservation policy suicidal for SC community: AJABM | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 1: Both the Congress and National Conference coalition in the State and the Congress-led UPA government at the centre are hell bent to harm the interests of the members of the Scheduled Caste community by tinkering with the reservation granted to them under the State as well as the Indian Constitution. This was alleged by State Convenor, Anushichit Jaati Arakshan Bacho Manch (AJABM) at a press conference here today. He said the Manch during its one day conference yesterday addressed by the national convernor and MP Ram Lal Govind passed a resolution opposing the proposal of the state government to ban inter-district and inter-province recruitments, appointments and selections in J&K state. In fact it is an unfortunate, uncalled for, ill-conceived, rather intentionally designed and calculated move to deprive the SC communities in particular, the resolution added. ‘None can deny that no scheduled caste resides in any of the 12 districts of Kashmir province and the entire population of SCs of about 11 per cent of the state resides only in 10 districts of Jammu province. Now does it mean that all the reserved posts of district level and provincial level of 12 districts of Kashmir province shall have no provision for accommodating under 8 per cent reservation the SC candidates from the 10 districts of Jammu province, despite the fact that there is no SC candidate residing in the valley who can claim the reservation’, he mentioned. Bhagat alleged that it is straightway a broad day robbery of the constitutional rights in the light of the proposed theory of the government engineered by some masterminds to block the doors for SCs of Jammu to seek and claim reservation benefits from Kashmir region where no SC resides. The scheduled caste community appeals to the state government to reconsider the proposal to continue the inter District and inter Province recruitments as before and drop the proposal of banning it to allow the reserved categories to avail the benefit of reservation from any corner of the state.
