| Foundation of Tehsil office Majalta laid | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 1: For bringing transparency and accountability in Revenue Department, the Government has embarked on a comprehensive modernisation programme under which the revenue records are being computerised besides developing modalities for making information easily accessible to the public.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone of Tehsil Office Complex, Majalta, the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla said that all the new Revenue complexes are being developed on modern lines with focus on installation of people-friendly mechanism, adding that the aim of the Government is to evolve such a system in which offices function in a paper free and hassle free manner, as envisaged in e-Governance.
To be constructed at a cost of Rs. 162 lakh by R&B department, the Tehsil Complex at Majalta would house meeting hall, retiring room, Tehsildar’s Court along with accommodation for ministerial staff, election cell, disaster management room and computerised record section. Majalta niabat in Ramnagar tehsil came into existence in July, 1953 and in July 2006, the Government upgraded it into a full fledged Tehsil consisting of Niabat Majalta and Niabat Deot.
Responding to local demands, Mr. Bhalla said that in order to meet the shortage of Kerosene in the tehsil, additional quota of 12,000 litre has been sanctioned in favour seven cooperative societies of Majalta. Regarding issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs), he said the system of issuance of PRCs is being streamlined and effort is on to clear the backlog by deputing Assistant Commissioner, Revenue for the task. He said that BPL survey is also nearing completion. He informed that special Girdawari to identify the drought hit areas is also being done. He said four PMGSY projects to provide road connectivity to seven habitations with population of 5237 is under progress while as seven new projects to provide connectivity to 15 habitations is in the pipeline.
