Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 1: Home Guard, Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police is organizing a 3-day annual sports meet from December 2 in which officers, jawans and other volunteer of Home Guards and Civil Defence from Jammu and Kashmir provinces are participating.
This was stated by the Inspector General of Police, Home Guard, Civil Defence and Auxiliary, Mr. S. Gopal Reddy at a Press Conference here today.
He said that over 240 players are participating in the annual sports event, who include 50 from Home Guard, 42 Civil Defence and 33 from Auxiliary Police from Jammu province besides 29 Home Guards, 44 each from Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police of Kashmir province, he added.
Mr. Reddy said that the sports meet will comprise football, volley ball, kabadi, tug war, javelin throw, disc throw, short put and different level of races. He also said that Home Guards and Civil Defence are also celebrating its Raising Day on December, 6 in which personals of Civil Defence and Home Guards will participate from all over the State.
On the occasion, the IGP also highlighted the functioning of the Auxiliary Police wing, Home Guards and Civil Defence.
Replying to questions of media persons, Mr. Reddy, who is also IG in-charge of Railways, said that for the safety of passengers, deployment of police personnel have been increased with sophisticated weapons to thwart any kind of threat. He said that in Kashmir, railway tracks are being protected by the Railway Police, Armed Police, local Police, SPOs and Central Reserve Police Force.
Among others, Deputy Inspector General of Home Guard and Civil Defence, Mr. P.R. Manhas and other police officers were also present on the occasion.
