| Liberal funding will help change J&K landscape: Shabir | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 1- Minister of State for Power, CA&PD and Forest, Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan has said that the Government has launched a massive development plan covering all the three regions, especially far off and hilly areas of the state.
Addressing a public meeting at Chappertala in Poonch district today, the Minister said the people of the State have suffered a lot during the past 20 years of turmoil.
The Minister said Jammu and Kashmir is marching fast towards peace and progress, adding that the day is not so far when it becomes a prosperous State. He said due to positive response from the UPA Government, the State has been receiving liberal funds for the overall development which will help the Government to bring the State at par with the other states of the country. This will also prove useful in changing the economic profile of the people of the state, he maintained.
Responding to the local demands, the Minister said that a number of new road projects are being taken up under PMGSY Phase-VII and other Central and State schemes to spread a network of roads in the area. He assured the people that setting up of new primary schools besides upgradation of existing ones and setting up of health centre in the area would be taken up with the concerned authorities on priority.
The Minister directed the Power Development Department to formulate an Action Plan for upgradation of power scenario in the area. He assured the people that ration and kerosene quota would also be enhanced like rationees of the other parts of the State and instructed CAP&PD authorities to ensure the availability of ration and its distribution to the ration holders before end of every month so that the consumers would not suffer while getting their ration at sale outlets in their areas.
The Minister also participated in the Urs of Syeed Sharief Hussain Shah at Chappertala and prayed for peace and prosperity of the State. He also enquired about the arrangements made by the administration for visiting pilgrims.
Lauding the role of Security Forces in defending the borders, the Minister hoped that they will continue to maintain cordial relations with the civilian population.
