| Kingpin of Army recruitment drive held | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 2: The main kingpin involved in embezzlement of army recruitment drive has been arrested by Channi Himmat police today. The racket was busted three days ago by police from Sunjawn area when aspirants of army were going through written test conducted by army. The kingpin identified as Mohammad Taj son of Mohammad Hussain resident of Chak Bala, Mendhar was arrested by a Channi Himmat police team led by SHO Chanchal Singh and SDPO East Sandep Mehta under the supervision of SP South Razak Ahmed during a raid conducted in his residence. During interrogation he informed police that he had charged Rs 40 thousand from each 21 candidates who had qualified army’s physical efficiency test and were not appear for written test and in turn he hired 21 Jammu University students on the agreement of payment of Rs 10 thousand each. He further informed that before he could grab money from the aspirants his plan was busted. He also informed police the name of two other persons involved in the racket. Giving information a police spokesman said that Mohd Taj had already booked in connection with anti social elements as barely two years ago he was arrested from Lakad Mandi with two Chinese grenades and a case against him has stood registered in Channi Himmat police station. He was later sent to jail under PSA and it was only six months ago he was released from jail. Police is also interrogating him to elicit more information.
