| Bhalla, Wani review progress of NBCC & ERA works | | | Early Times Report Jammu, December 2 –Emphasizing on expeditions completion of the ongoing and pending works in various city areas, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla asked the executing agencies, deportments to put in extra coordinated efforts so as to ensure timely and speedy completion of these development works.
Speaking at a meeting convened to review the progress of laying of sewerage and PHE pipes being executed by NBCC and ERA throughout Jammu city the other day, Mr. Bhalla said that the works should be carried out and completed simultaneously to ensure complete development of the particular area. No work should be left unattended for any reason thereby causing inconvenience to the inhabitants, he added.
Minister of State for Revenue and Tourism, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. Manoj K. Diwedi, ADC, Mr. J.L.Sharma,Chief Engineer M & RE and senior Officers from JMC, PHE, UEED, R&B and Traffic were present.
Urging the concerned agencies to improve the quality control system and other technicalities. Mr. Bhalla asserted that there should be no compromise on quality. Reviewing the progress of works being executed by NBCC and ERA, he was apprised about the present status and also problems being faced by them in certain areas. Both the agencies gave detailed status report of the respective works upto November,2009. They also apprised about the financial and physical status of various works which included Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Rural Mission (JNNURM) projects, Sewerage projects in Jammu, Trunk Sewar and Laternal sewar line, drainage system, laying of water supply pipes, sanitation and other works. They highlighted the problems and other issues which were discussed in a coordinated manner with the concerned departments for mutual solution.
While discussing the technical aspects of the projects, which were brought to his notice during the meeting, Mr. Wani exhorted upon the officers to view each issue seriously so that the sanctioned works are completed to the utter satisfaction of the people. He stressed on completing the pending works on immediate basis.
Later, Mr. Bhalla also laid foundation of drill work of tube well at Kashmiri being completed at a cost of Rs. 9 lakh by PHE Ground water Division.
Chairman Health and Sanitation, JMC, Mr. Satesh Kumar Sharma and Executive Engineers PHE and R&B were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bhalla said that with the completion of tube well, a population of 5000 souls of Kashmiri Basti besides migrants of Doda, Poonch and Rajouri would be benefited. He asked the executing agency to complete the drill work within 15 days so that other allied works can be start soon for the benefit of people. He said that Government has approved Rs.25 lakh for the purpose.
He inspected the ongoing development works of Kashmiri Basti Belicharana link road being completed at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh by R&B department. He asked the engineers to complete it within stipulated time frame for the benefit of people.
