| Jammu and Kashmir submits nine projects to Centre for boosting horticulture | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 2 : To further boost the horticulture sector, Jammu and Kashmir Horticulture Produce Marketing Corporation (JKHMPC) has submitted nine projects to the centre, official sources said here today.
They said the project submitted to the Centre under Technology Mission are aimed at upgradation and modernisation of apple juice plant Sopore, setting up of controlled atmosphere store with grading, packing and waxing line at Doabgah Sopora, Nowpora Fruit Mandi Sopore, Tragpora and Behrampora besides one million corrugated cardboard bore plant at Zakura, apple juice concentrated plant at Kavelvan, Sirhama under public sector and one at Anantnag under private sector.
All these projects are expected to be cleared by SLSC under technical mission.
They said the Minister of State for Horticulture Javaid Ahmad Dar disbursed the final payment of Rs 30 lakh among 41 growers who had procured 2,300 mts of C-Grade apple during the last fruit season.
They said 170 mts of concentrate was provided by the juice plant Doabgah valued at Rs one crore during the year and it will be put to 100 per cent operation during the year 2010-2011.
The corporation has formulated a draft food processing policy and proposed package of incentives which is under active consideration of the government.
It was to increase the production capacity of the state from present 65,000 mts to three lakh mts by 2015, they said, adding the corporation is also considering formulation of support price scheme for 2010-2011 for entire state for apples, pears, apricots, cherries, plums, mangoes, litchi, oranges for production of juice and pulp.
