| Selection of 125 IRP constables challenged | | Reserve one post of constable in open category in 5 IRP battalions: HC | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 02- In a petition seeking quashment of selection of 125 IRP Constables, Jammu and Kashmir High Court today issued notice to Jammu and Kashmir Government through Commissioner Secretary Home returnable within three weeks with the directions to the petitioner that he will take steps to serve the respondents within one week. After hearing Advocate Ashok Sharma appearing for the petitioner, Justice Sunil Hali of High Court ordered that one post of constable in IRP 16, 17, 18, 19 & 20 Battalions under open category shall not be filled up by the respondents. However, this order is subject to objection from other side. The petition challenged the selection of 125 IRP constables on various grounds including the constitution of separate selection boards which were illegal, unwarranted and liable to be set aside. It was also alleged in the petition that the process to constitute separate selection boards had been with the purpose to provide free, fair and transparent process of selection without any interference from any corner, but once the higher authorities started directly interfering in the process, the process of selection becomes not only doubtful but unfair and possibility of pick and choose, nepotism, favoritism and other unfair means like corruption increases considerably which makes the process of recruitment irrelevant and meaningless. The petitioner prayed for quashing the selection list issued by Chairman Central Recruitment Board. JNF
