| GCET bags Dr Jagmohan Singh Memorial trophy | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 3: Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) bagged Dr Jagmohan Singh Memorial trophy in the inter-collegiate/departmental debating contest organised by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu (JU) under the ongoing “Display Your Talent 2009-10” programme here today. Zain-ul-Abdeen-Banday (MAM PG College, Morning) secured first position while Aashma Puri and Navjot Singh (GCET, Jammu) had to settle for second and third prizes respectively. Pryati Sharma (GCW Gandhi Nagar) and Hari Lal (MAM PG College, Evening) were awarded Certificates of Merit. Rashpal Singh, a blind candidate from MAM PG College (Evening) was also awarded a special prize. The topic of the debate competition was “The National Security is only a political issue”. Prof Rita Jitendra, former Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, M M Khajuria, former Director General of Police and Ravi Magotra were the experts. The proceedings were conducted by Rameshwari Slathia, Gagandeep Sharma and Sarang Vaid.Ankita Gupta and Joginder Singh were the time keepers.
