| JBA TO JOIN DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS OF STATE HIGH COURT | | | Jammu, July 22;-Though the Jammu Bar Association has decided to continue their indefinite strike in protest against delay in transfering the trial of sex scam case from Srinagar to Jammu,its members have agreed to participate in the diamond jubilee celebrations of the state High Court.The two-day celebrations will commence from July 29 in Srinagar. President Jammu Bar Association,Mr Ved Raj Wazir,said in Jammu on Saturday "we will continue the ongoing strike but at the same time we have decided to participate in diamond jubilee celebrations as it an important legal event for our state." It may be mentioned that the Kashmir bar association had earlier decided to boycott the celebrations. Mr Wazir also disclosed that Chief Justice,Mr B.A.Khan,had communited to "me that after the celebrations were over he would apply his mind to the issue." The Bar President said that Justice Mr Khan had also stated that he had the powers to examine the issue highlighted by the Jammu Bar Association and accordingly take a decision. Other Bar members said that the fulminations of Mr Iqbal Khandey,principal secretary who has been arrested on charge of his alleged involvement in the sex scam,inside the jail indicated that the arrested people did not expect justice of the trial was held in Srinagar. They said in Srinagar those arrested have not been able to get any legal aid and the Law Department could find some advocates who were not acceptable to the accused.They said once the trial was transferred to Jammu those arrested could engage lawyers of their choice.
