| Prof Anjum delivers extension lecture at JU | | | Early Times Report Jammu , Dec 3: Prof Shehnaz Anjum of Jamia Milia Islmia, while delivering an extension lecture organized by department of Urdu, University of Jammu under Bazyaff Program, has said that. Fort-William College was established in l800AD by Britishers to teach Indian language to the employees of east India Company and it was the Urdu language particularly Urdu prose which got tremendous boost in the college. The function was presided over by noted critic Qudoos Javed while Director Radio Kashmir Jammu Javed Iqbal was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Nasima Khan; Director Door Darshan was the Guest of Honour. She informed that though the college at Calcutta was established by Britishers for their self interest but Indian languages particularly Urdu flourished more and more. Javed Iqbal and Nasima Khan offered their full support to department of Urdu for organizing literary and cultural activities to promote Urdu in the state. Prof Qudoos Javed in his presidential address congratulated Shehnaz Anjum for delivering a thought provoking lecture. He also complimented Urdu department who in a very short span of time organized a number of literary activities. Earlier, in his welcome address Prof Shohab Inayat Malik informed that department had started ‘Bazyaft’ program which means reinvention and under this banner more and more seminars, Mushiras, and literary activities would be organized in near future.
