| Traders allege theft, stage protest demonstration | | | Srinagar, Sep 05 : Police had to resort to lathicharge and fire teargas shells to disperse an angry mob protesting against the damage caused to their properties allegedly caused by the security forces around Standard Hotel, where a day long gun battle ended today. As the encounter ended up this afternoon, large number of people mostly traders from the locality assembled near Masisuma chowk and staged a protest demonstration. Shouting anti-security personnel slogans the protestors alleged that they have suffered huge loss during the last 24 hours. Muhammad Ismail, proprietor of MV Traders, alleged that he found Rs 35000 missing from the shop, which he had left opened when militants attacked the adjoining buildings. Another protestors claiming to be the proprietor of Laway Traders alleged that Rs 45000 have been stolen from his shop. The angry protestor resorted to stone pelting on the security personnel present around the Standard Hotel forcing police personnel to resort to can-charge and teargas shelling. |
