| International Disabled Day Celebrated | | Chib for making the disabled self-reliant | | Early Times Report JAMMU, DECEMBER 03- Asking the civil society to come forward in helping the disabled to become self-reliant, the Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr. R.S. Chib said that the disabled people as endowed with special talent which needs to be identified and developed through love and support of the society.
Speaking at a function organized by Sahyog India, an NGO, in collaboration with Health and Medical Education Departments on International Disabled day, here today, Mr. Chib said that special training methods have been developed to train the disabled people in different skills, so that they are able to sustain themselves financially. He lauded the philanthropic role of Sahyog India who have been tirelessly working to instill confidence among the physically and mentally disabled by imparting training to them in various skills. He also recalled the efforts of the NGO in arranging marriages of girls from poor families, adding that the selfless efforts of such organization have brought light into the lives of several people.
The Minister asked Sahyog India to organise a special sports meet for the disabled, assuring that the Youth Services and Sports Department would render all possible assistance in organizing such event.
Mr. Chib also announced to give a vehicle to the NGO.
Later, the Minister also participated in a function organized by Indian Regional Red Cross Society (IRRCS) in collaboration with Government Medical College, Jammu.
On the occasion wheelchairs were also donated to three handicapped beneficiaries.
The Minister appreciated the work done by Red Cross fraternity and assured to the Government’s full support to their future endeavours.
Principal Medical College, Jammu, Dr. Rajinder Singh, HOD, Artho Jammu, Dr. Dara Singh, Regional Secretary, IRRCS, Jammu Mr. Anil Kumar Padha, and IRRCS delegates, Th. Emonuela Bertingi, HOD Ortho Project Circle, Head J&K Fltz Patrick Communication Coordinator Stephenie were also present on the occasion.
