JP’s engineer, PSO killed near Khari
Truck plunges into gorge, kills 4 on National Highway

Banihal, Oct 05 : At least six persons, including a senior engineer working on Kashmir Rail project and his Personnel Security Officer, were killed in two separate road mishaps near here, today.
Official sources said that four persons were killed when a truck skid off the road near Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, while a civil engineer and his PSO were killed near Khari area of Banihal.
Giving details of the incidents a senior police officer told News Agency of Kashmir that a truck, JK1A-3177, which was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar skid off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Battery Chashma, few kilometers from Ramban.
Police immediately launched a rescue operation, however all the four persons including driver and conductor of the truck were found dead on the spot, he added. The deceased have been identified as Abdul Rasheed Hakim S/o Muhammad Ibrahim R/o Khanbal Anantnag, Gohar Sheikh S/o Ghulam Hassan Sheikh R/o Kulgam and Ishfaq Ahmed S/o M Ahasan R/o Kokernag and Javeed Ahmed S/o Abdul Rasheed R/o Khanbal.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Doda-Udhampur Range MK Mohanty told News Agency of Kashmir, over phone, that the truck was carrying the supply of CA&PD when it met with the accident near Ramban. He said that bodies would be handed over to the family members after completion of legal formalities.
Meanwhile, reports revealed that a senior engineer SP Verma of Jai Parkash Associates and his PSO were killed and another engineer injured when a jeep, they were traveling in, skidded off the road near Khari, Banihal at around 1:30PM, today.
It was learnt that engineer and his PSO Jagdish Singh were killed on the spot, while another engineer and driver of the jeep were injured in the accident. They were rushed to Banihal hospital, where their condition was stated to be criticial.
Doctors attending them said that if their condition did not improved they would be shifted to Jammu for further treatment.
