| Vaishno Devi pilgrim jumps from hillock | | |

Jammu, Dec 3: A Vaishno Devi pilgrim allegedly attempted to commit suicide by jumping from a hill rock near Hathi Matha en route Katra in mountainous Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources here said.
''A woman pilgrim Santosh, 24, allegedly jumped from the hill rock in a bid to end her life while she was returning to Katra along with her family members after paying obeisance at the Vaishno Devi Shrine last night,'' the sources said.
The woman, however, survived but got seriously injured.
''She was immediately shifted to the hospital at Sanjhi Chhat from where she was referred to the Katra hospital,'' police added. A case has been registered and the matter is being investigated, they said.
