| Honours for Prof Desh Bandhu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 3- Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has been elected in the Board of Governors of Commonwealth Association of Open Schools (COMOSA).
Under the leadership of Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Vancouver, Canada an initiative was taken to establish a Commonwealth Association of Open Schools (COMOSA) involving Commonwealth countries. The need to establish such a body to act as an international network for sharing knowledge, disseminating innovative ideas, building capacity and raising the public profile of open schooling. The high demand for Secondary Education has led to many countries investing in establishing Open Schools as they will play a significant role in future.
In the first meeting of Board of Governors Prof. Desh Bandhu has been made Incharge of all activities pertaining to Asian region.
By being in the Governing Board of such international body the State of Jammu and Kashmir is going to be benefited in achieving a total literacy in the State by having quality education. It will also help in attracting huge financial support from International and National agencies and strengthen the State Open School. International activities shall be organized in the State in the near future which will enable to enhance the image of the education in the State. Networking and sharing of knowledge will be at international level which will also result into capacity building, sharing of resources, research and development, quality assurance, advocacy, equity and access to all sections of the society.
