| Student leader assaulted outside MAM College | | |
Jammu, Oct 05 : A student leader of Maulana Azad Memorial college was injured critically when he was stabbed by his colleague mate, here this afternoon.
Police said that Jammu Joint Students Federation had organized a protest rally against the clemency demand of Afzal Guru, outside MAM College, here today. The protest was being led by Gotam, a part second student of the college, who is said to be JJSF president of the College.
Some of the eyewitnesses told News Agency of Kashmir that suddenly four Sikh youth, including two students of the college, appeared on the spot and attacked Gotum with shape edged weapons. The assailants reportedly managed to escape from the spot leaving the victim in poll of blood.
The victim was rushed to GMC Hospital with multiple wounds in his stomach and back, sources said adding, his condition remained critical.
Sources told NAK that as per the preliminary investigation Gagan Deep Singh, another college student, with the help of some unknown persons attacked Gotum in broad day light. Some old rivalry is said to be the reason behind the attack.
