| Foreign agencies' behind Shiekh Mohammad's death: former DG | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 4 : After almost two decades of Sher-e-Kashmir Shiekh Mohammad Abdullah's death, former Director General and Special Secretary, Health, Ali Baksh today alleged that his demise needs to be probed as some 'foreign agencies' were behind it. ''Death of Shiekh Mohammad Abdullah was resulted by some ''foreign agencies'' and he did not die his natural death,'' Dr Baksh told a press conference here this afternoon. He said Shiekh's treatment during last days was bungled in a way that proper diagnosis and treatment were jeopardised by one of the doctors at the behest of some vested interests. The former Director General, however, said, ''Some agencies wanted to hasten the demise of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh to create an atmosphere of instability in the state.'' Narrating the incident, Dr Baksh alleged that one of the doctors, namely Dr VP Gupta, the then Medical Superintendent of the SKIMS, changed his first X-ray taken on the first X-ray machine, which led to the faulty diagnosis leading to his untimely demise.
''I was Health Director of Kashmir at that time (1982) and Dr Ali Jan, who was the training physician was misled by Dr V P Gupta's changed X-ray,'' he added.
Dr Baksh appealed to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Shiekh Abdullah's grandson Omar Abdullah to institute an inquiry into his death.
