| Handa college holds 7th state yoga championship | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 4: The 7th state yoga championship was held in the premises of Handa College of education at Sainik Colony here today. The meet was declared open by the director of the college Dr Vikram Handa. Participants from various parts of the state including Jammu, Rajouri, Reasi, Udhampur and Srinagar took part in the championships. The students were divided into three groups as 8 to 11 years, 11 to 14 years and 14 to 17 years. On the basis of their performance, the winners of this championship would be selected for the J&K state yoga team and represent the state in the national championships scheduled to start from the 9th of January 2010 at Hyderabad. Minister for technical education, youth services and sports, RS Chib was the chief guest for while Namrata Sharma, Corporator Sainik Colony was the guest of honour and Veena Handa working president Jammu and Kashmir cricket association and the chairperson the college presided over the function. Chib lauded all the participants of the competition and congratulate them on their fabulous performance and ensured the audience that as minister of youth service and sports he would encourage yoga. The judges for the occasion were Surinder Pathak, Anil Gupta, Surinder Kumar, Mukesh, Sanjay, Rekha, Surinder Kumar, Khursheed and Dayal Ram. The prize winners in age group of 8 to 11 years were Harshita, Kamlesh Kumari and Anu. In the age group of 11 to 14 were Mehak Jamwal, Harleen Kour and Shikha Chib. In the age group of 14 to 17 years were Komal Gupta, Sonam and Uzma Nazir.
