| Mortal remains of Kashmiri Pandit Scientist brought back from Antarctica | | |

After 180 sleepless nights, Indian scientest Kuldeep Wali's family is finally at ease today when they received mortal remains of Kuldeep Wali, who died in Antarctica on June 1st June 2009 at Indian Research Base Maitri, Antarctica in service to the nation. He was cremated in Antartica on June 9 and became the continent's first cremation.
Shiban Kishan Wali the younger brother of Kuldeep told that mortal remains of Kuldeep Wali have brought back today from Antarctica for his last journey and will be kept for darshan at Indian Scientest India Meteorological Complex in International Airport New Delhi before proceeding to Haridwar.
Kuldeep Wali was a professional meteorologist with India Meteorological Department was deputed to Antarctica as a member of the winter over team of the 28th Indian Scientific Expedition in November 2008 and was expected to return back by November 2009. Wali is survived by his mother, wife Reeta Wali and a daughter.
India Meteorological Department Officials told that “Wali’s contributions to Antarctic science will always be admired by future generations. He will always remain in the hearts of fellow Antarcticans and remembered with fondness.”
An intelligent scientist, adorable multifaceted personality and an energetic member of the team who would bring smile to many faces, would go an extra mile to help others as also would stand by in the hour of need, is no more with us, said officials.
