| SPO’s seeking relaxation cane charged | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 5- Police used force to quell protest by the Special Police Officers (SPOs) who had taken to the streets demanding relaxation in field test during recruitment in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Bantalab. Several SPOs were injured in Police lathi-charge during protest here today at Bantalab. According to reports, a large number of SPOs who had gone to appear for physical and written tests for the recruitment in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), held protest again after being rejected for not fulfilling the eligibility. More than 50 SPOs in protest came out on roads outside CRPF Headquarter in procession and staged a protest dharna on the road resulting into blockade of traffic on the main road connecting Bantalab to Jammu City. The protesting SPOs raised slogans in support of their demands and against the CRPF authority for denying relaxation in field tests. The situation took ugly turn when police resorted to baton charge on protesting SPOs to disperse the students and quell their protest dharna. In police action, reports said, several protesting SPOs were injured. The police action led to clashes with police personnel and pelted stones on Police contingent. The dharma continued for about 45 minutes. It is pertinent to mention that SPOs were also lathi charged on December 2 in which many SPOs sustained injuries. “We are the SPOs serving in the state of Jammu and Kashmir from many years, we were just demanding relaxation in field test but got lathis”, the protesting SPOs said.
