| | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 7: Vikas Sharma, Chairman Youth Movement for Peace, while expressing his gratitude to the print and electronic media for their cooperation and support in propagating YMP’s message of peace to the masses, said “Media plays a significant role in the building of society by bringing to light the hidden evils and is the mirror which reflects the image of the society. If one desires to bring a positive change in the society, the role of the Press and Media is inevitable,” he added. Addressing a press conference here Sharma said that YMP aims to make the society free from all evils by inculcating the feeling of patriotism in the youth. For the last three years, we have been working among the youth and in the educational institutions by organizing workshops, literary and cultural activities like debates, symposiums, seminars, group discussions, songs, skits, dramas, peace rallies etc. Sharma added, “We have also been working in the remote and far-flung areas and making every possible effort to solve their problems by approaching the concerned authorities and make them aware of the problems of related areas.” “Recently, YMP successfully concluded YMP Festival 2009 comprising more than 10 events on different themes like Secularism, Global Warming, Corruption, Patriotism, and Role of youth in the building nation in which students of more than 50 schools and 35 colleges across Jammu region took part, Sharma claimed. Highlighting the calendar of coming year, Sharma said, “We are going to cover the whole North- India in the coming days and intensify our work in the remote areas especially the tribal belt in the hilly regions to spread the awareness concerning female-feticide, personal hygiene, universal and women education and water sanitation.
