JAMMU, DEC 8: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla has said that Coalition Government is making all out efforts to ensure equitable development of all the provinces of the State.
The Minister said this while laying the foundation stone of 240 meter long protection wall, along left side of Niki Tawi, coming up at a cost of Rs. 28 lakh at Bashir Gujjar Basti, Belicharana, here this afternoon.
Bhalla said that the Government has sanctioned Rs. 80 lakh for the ongoing construction of 1.5 kilometer link road in the Bashir Gujjar Basti. With the completion of protection wall, the property and livestock of the people of the area would be protected from the rising of water level in the river Tawi. He said that the Coalition Government is fully aware of problems of every community and is making all out efforts to provide basic amenities including drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, education, health and drainage system.
To boost tourism in Jammu city, Mr. Bhalla said that recently the Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah laid foundation of 1500 meters long and 600 meters wide artificial lake at Belicharana, first of its kind which will give a new dimension to the tourism sector. He said that the artificial lake will also be developed in the Niki Tawi at a cost of Rs. 25 crore, adding administration at all levels has been geared up to ensure completion of works within stipulated time frame.
The Minister said that the tourism sector has tremendous employment potential and need of the hour is to involve more youth in setting up of income-generating units under this sector. He said various innovative schemes have been launched under which loans and financial assistance is being provided to the unemployed educated youth, besides diploma and degree courses in food management and other tourism-related courses have also been started, the un-employed youth should avail the benefits of the schemes and earn livelihood by starting their own ventures, the Minister stressed.
Mr. Bhalla said the Government has initiated various measures for promotion of tourism sector for attracting global tourists at a large scale of the three regions of the State. He said that tour and travel operators have played a commendable role in the revival of tourism sector in the State and hoped that this symbiotic relationship between the Government and the operators will continue in the coming tourist season also.
To reduce the distance from Bhagwati Nagar to Bikram Chowk, four-lane 4th bridge foundation stone was also laid over river Tawi coming up at a cost of Rs. 150 crore at Belicharana. The JKPCC executing agency were to complete it within 3 years for the benefit of general masses.
