| Pakistan understand the language of force | | |
Pakistan has ever been adopting double standards and dual policy on terrorism. While on one hand it has been ally of USA and other Western powers in their all out war against those sections of terrorists who are operating or are planning to strike against the western powers, it has been from the very beginning patronizing, assisting and even training the terrorists who strike against India, having their launching pads in the territory under Pak control. While it has been asking India to provide solid proof of Pakistani links of the planners and perpetrators of Mumbai serial metro blasts, before it takes any action against them, though flatly ruling out handed over to India of any terrorist involved in strikes against India, it has never demanded from the USA any evidence before pledging support as well as joining that power in apprehending or liquidating the Al Qaeda outfit of terrorists, who are alleged by USA to have been mainly responsible for the 9/11 attack on World Trade Center in New York and Pentagon in Washington. According to Pak President Parvaz Musharraf's own admission, as disclosed in his recently releases autobiography "In the line of Fire", in the wake of attack on twin trade towers in USA, the later had threatened to bombard Pakistan and put it back to the stone age, if it did not side with USA in their fight against Al Qaeda and Taliban. He has also mentioned that the USA had paid billions of dollars to Pakistan for providing them the clues and assistance in arresting the Al Qaeda and Taliban Jehadis and that Pakistan has so far helped USA to capture a large number of mercenaries. This in fact is admission on the part of Pak President that it listens the voice of threat and bows before a mighty power and its support to USA in fight against terrorists threatening that country is as a result of threat from USA. Against it, despite repeated assurances held to the Indian leaders, during negotiations that no part of territory under the control of Pakistan will be allowed to be used for terrorist to operate against India, it has been blatantly flouting these assurances and continues to be siding with the Jehadis groups operating against India, under one pretext or the other. Obviously Pakistan knows that India is not going to use the force against Pakistan, notwithstanding its belligerent attitude of non cooperation, rather hostility so far as combating terrorism against India is concerned. This gives credence to the old dictum that "Might is Right" or what we call in local language "laton ke bhoot—baton se nahi mante". In the light of this fact it is India which has to decide how to deal with Pakistan and whether it should talk to the rulers of that country in the language which alone they understand. While no sane person will plead India to launch a war against Pakistan, yet we must be tough in dealing with the ruling political dispensation in that country and always keep open the option of use of force to protect our country's sovereignty and solidarity and safeguard the lives of our citizens.
