| Awareness Camp on NREGA held | | |

Udhampur Dec8 : Awareness Camp on NREGA was held at Kirmichi village of Udhampur .Chairman District Legal services authority Principal District Session Judge A.K Sharma was the chief guest while Chief Judical Magistrate Udhampur Mohinder Sharma presided over the function. Beside Sarpanches , Panch and block officers and large number of people participated in the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman said that the main objective of the scheme is to raise the socio-economic condition of people of rural areas by providing at least hundred days guaranteed wage employment in a financial year to every house hold whose adult members volunteers to do unskilled manual work. He asked the people to come forward in a collective manner and take maximum benefits from the schemes. He also highlighted various aspects of legal aid scheme and apprised the people about the significance of legal aid programme
Tehsil Legal Services Authority Chairman CJM Udhampur Mohinder Sharma speaking on the occasion said that apprised the participants about the main concepts of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) and exhorted upon the participants to come forward, took active part in the development process by initiating development works in their respective area.
He said that number of development works which include road connectivity, bridle paths, bowlies, ponds irrigation channels, social forestry, plantation of fruit plants, check dams etc. can be initiated under NREGA. He said that 100 days guaranteed wage employment has been designed for the rural unskilled masses and the enhancement in wages from Rs.70/- to Rs.110/- has also been done by government. He asked the participants to come forward, make their job cards and demand for the required work of their respective areas and get wage employment at their door steps and develop their areas as per the needs and demand of the area.
