| Nagrota to get MC status: Tara Chand | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, DEC 9: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand has said that the Government has decided to notify Nagrota as Municipal Committee soon.
Chairing a high-level meeting of officers here today, Mr. Tara Chand said that the Nagrota will be developed as a model town and all basic facilities would be made available to the people.
He said that the decision to declare Nagrota as a Municipal Committee has been taken on the demand raised by the people of the area, adding that this would give fillip to development of civic amenities in the area.
Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Devender Singh Rana, Commissioner/Secretary Housing & Urban Development, Mr. Abdul Hamid, Director Local Bodies, Jammu, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad and other senior officers of the concerned department attended the meeting.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the Director, Local Bodies to complete the formalities for declaring Nagrota as Municipal Committee and submit it immediately so that a notification in this regard is issued.
The Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Devender Singh Rana thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for fulfilling the genuine demand of Nagrota people. He said that the decision will go a long way in upgrading the civic facilities in the area, which is fast growing into an urban centre.
