| Ajaz asks for picking up best talent for youth parliament | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 09: The J&K state is going to participate in the Youth Parliament Scheme in a big way and the process of selection and training of students and teachers would commence from December 12.
This was decided in a meeting of officers chaired by Minister of State for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Khan. Secretary Education, Mr. G. A. Peer, Special Secretary, Law, Mr. G. H. Tantray, Special Secretary, Higher Education, Mr. Parvez Malik, Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Mr. Muhammad Ramzan, Secretary, Legislative Council, Mr. G. R. Mehboobi, Director, School Education, Jammu, Mrs. Zahida Khan and principals of various colleges attended the meeting.
The meeting decided to hold preliminary training programme for teachers on December 12 at the Assembly complexes Jammu and Srinagar. Two teachers from each district would be selected for such training.
The process of selection of students who would represent the state in the Youth Parliament would start from district levels where competions would be held to select the best students for the purpose.
The Minister directed the officers to invlove legislators including MPs, MLAs and MLCs in the selection process of the J&K team to represent at the national level.
The Scheme has been initiated by the Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and the objectives include taking the parliamentary practices down to the grassroot levels particularly rural areas, educating youth about the parliamentary practices and advantages of democracy, to inculcate the spirit of nationalism and prapare future leaders of the country.
