| R-Day preparations begin, Kotwal reviews measures | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, DEC 9: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal today sought massive participation of private educational institutions in the main function to be held at M A Stadium to celebrate the ensuing Republic Day.
Reviewing the preparation for presentation of mega cultural show on the occasion, Dr Kotwal asserted that the items to be presented should depict multi faceted diverse culture. He said the culture of the state, encompasses an wide range of dances as almost every region has a traditional dance that is an art passed on from generation to generations. Cultural diversity is a driving force of development of intercultural skills, he added and hoped that this year the Republic Day celebration should mark composite blend of varying
On the occasion, Divisional Commissioner was apprised of the programme which includes March past, Bharatiyam and other cultural items. Presentation of tableau as per the past practice was also discussed.
Principals of various schools and colleges gave valuable suggestions to which Divisional Commissioner assured to give due consideration.
Dr Kotwal stressed on maintaining liaison and working in close tandem to make the programme a success.
Director Education, Jammu, Mrs Zahida Khan, and officers of education and heads of different educational institutions were present in the meeting.
