| Top separatists leaders under house arrest, | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 10 : Chairman of the moderate Hurriyat conference Mirwaiz Omar Farooq and several other senior leaders were among a dozen separatists put under house arrest while about two dozens were detained in the Kashmir valley overnight. The move was to prevent the separatists leaders from attending seminars on the International Human Rights (HR) day today. A spokesman for the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) told UNI that Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah was put under house arrest since last night to prevent him from attending the seminar. He said a large number of security force personnel have been deployed outside his residence and he was not being allowed to move out till further orders. A Spokesman for the HC Shahid-ul-Islam said that the Mirwaiz Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, and Masroor Ansari have been put under house arrest. Mr Islam, who is also under house arrest, said police raided the amalgam headquarters at Rajbag this morning and arrested about a dozen leaders and supporters. Several other senior separatist leaders, including Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Zafar Akbar Bhat, have also been put under house arrest since last evening. Jammu and Kashmir Human Rights Forum (HRF) Chairman Mohammad Ahsan Untoo, who was arrested from his Nowgam residence last night, has been lodged in Police station Chanapora Mr Untoo has launched a signature campaign yesterday demanding withdrawal of special powers to security forces in the state.
