| JMC intensifies checking of adulteration | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 10: While continuing the drive against the adulteration in food items, an intensive checking of the food articles was undertaken by the checking team of food inspectors headed by the health officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation in the areas of Nai Basti, Satwari, Digiana, Gangyal. During the checking about 64 establishments of halwani shops, fruit juice, dhabas etc were checked 23 numbers of cases were booked under the provision of PFA Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000. An amount of Rs. 3800/- was realized as fine on spot from the defaulters. The shopkeepers dealing with food articles were also asked to ensure supply of Pure and fresh food articles to the general public and also keep their premises neat and clean failing which they shall be dealt under law. The team also booked 5 defaulters under prohibition of tobacco and cigerrate act and realized Rs. 500/- from them. Besides, the municipal veterinary officer along with field staff visited the areas of Jewel, Canal Road, Vikram Chowk, Ware house, Satwari etc checked 85 numbers of Milk canes in these areas, out of which 17 numbers of milk canes were lifted and sent to the laboratory. A fine of Rs 3400.00 was also realized from the erring milk vendors on spot. The team also visited different municipal areas and lifted 14 numbers of stray animals. The stray animals were impounded to municipal cattle pound and a fine of Rs. 2020.00 was realized from the owners of stray animals. In another move the enforcement wing removed the encroachment by filing the plinth dug on a part of public lane by one Parshotam Singh S/o Late S Harnam Singh at Sushil Nagar, Talab Tilloo, Jammu.
