| Wani reviews working of HUDCO in J&K | | 119 projects with Rs.642 cr investment taken up | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 10- The HUDCO has so far financed 119 projects in housing, power, sanitation and health sectors in Jammu and Kashmir and has released Rs.641.75 crore for the purpose. Apart from financing projects under different schemes as loans as well as Grant-in-Aid, HUDCO also provides consultancy for preparation of DPRs. This was stated at a meeting held by MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani to review the functioning of the HUDCO in the state. The MLA was informed that due to default in repayment of loan by a leading Cooperatives Housing Society in J&K, during nineties, HUDCO has already stopped financing fresh housing projects in J&K. However the MLA assured to take up this matter with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, to seek his personal intervention for an early settlement of the issue. Already, this matter has been brought into the notice of Cooperatives Minister Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma to conduct a high level enquiry preferably headed by Financial Commissioner Home and take strict action against those involved. He urged the HUDCO authorities to take benefit of Video Conferencing Facility for directly interacting with the Deputy Commissioners and other officers located at all the district headquarter, providing them up-to-date information about various schemes of Union Ministry of Housing being implemented through HUDCO in J&K.
