| CMO Samba suspended | | | Jammu, Dec 10: Allegedly caught offering incorrect information the Chief Medical Education Officer of Samba today earned ire of the Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma.
An official spokesman said that taking serious note of furnishing misleading information at a review meeting here today, the Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma ordered suspension of Chief Medical Officer, Samba, Dr. P.S. Slathia with immediate effect.
The Minister asked Director Health Services, Jammu to place the Chief Medical Officer under suspension with immediate effect.
Stressing the need for ensuring total transparency and accountability in the functioning of Health Department at different levels, the Minister said that everyone will be made accountable and their performance reviewed on monthly basis. He asked the Director Health Services and Chief Medical Officers of various districts to conduct frequent touring of various health institutions in the rural areas to personally assess the facilities on ground so that necessary corrective measures are taken to further improve their functioning.
The Minister said that the Government is making all out efforts to upgrade the existing infrastructure in health institutions, “ it is the duty of the doctors and para-medics to work with extra zeal and dedication and provide improved medicare to the patients”, he said adding that the Government has also created better working environment and sanctioned various incentives for the doctors and para-medics especially for those working in far-flung areas and it is expected that they will do justice with the noble profession. |
