| IG Armed declares open Fistball Championship | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, December 11: Inspector General of Police (Armed), Dilbag Singh today declared open the three-day 5th National Fistball Championships in a colourful function held at Green Field ground Gandhi Nagar, here. In his inaugural address, the IGP expressed hope that the otherwise new game in the state, Fistball would certainly find place among the popular sports in the times to come. He wished success to the participating teams in the competition while promising all possible help to the organisers. Earlier, in his welcome address, president of the J&K Fistball Association, J P Singh presented a brief note about the game of Fistball at the national and world level. He said that the game is a mixture of tennis and volleyball. Since a number of participating teams were on way to Jammu, the organizers were unable to draw the fixture. So, an exhibition match arranged between Punjab and hosts J&K men teams. Prominent among others present on the opening function were Member Legislative Council, T S Wazir, Deputy Inspector General of Police (IRP), Danish Rana, Sports Officer of Sports Council, Arun Kumar Sharma and a number of other senior police officers and officials of J&K Fistball Association.
