| Celebration of World Conservation Day at MIER College of Education | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 11- To create awareness regarding conservation of environment and preservation of wildlife, the students and the staff of MIER College of Education celebrated World Conservation Day by organizing activities both within and outside the college. Dr. Renu Gupta, Director, MIER and Principal, MIER College of Education addressing the students stressed upon the need for conserving the natural world including plants and animals, which play a vital role in the existence of human life. Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER and Vice Principal, MIER College of Education also motivated the students to take part in these activities so that a positive outlook can be developed for conservation of environment. He stated that we must preserve our forests, fisheries and the diversity of living species, all of which are close to collapsing under the pressure of human consumption and destruction. All the staff members were also present on the occasion. Later the students were taken to a Wildlife Sanctuary at Ramnagar (Manda) to familarize them with the importance and need of conservation of flora and fauna. During the visit, students interacted with the concerned officers, who briefed them about the ill effects of increasing population, industrialization and deforestation on the wild habitat and environment. They emphasized the need of maintaining the balance of ecosystem for the overall health of the planet.
