| Participate in co-curricular activities: Bhalla to students | | Inaugurates blood donation camp at Kachi Chawni | | Early Times Report JAMMU, DECEMBER 12-Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla has asked children to participate in co-curricular activities besides their academic education adding that sports activities leads to physical and mental fitness of a person.
The Minister said this while addressing the gathering after inaugurating Annual Sports Meet at St. John’s Convent School, Mandal, here this evening.
Mr. Bhalla said that Government is making all out efforts to provide latest techniques and infrastructure facilities to sports lovers in the State. He asked the teacher fraternity to provide quality education to children so that they make better citizen of tomorrow.
On the occasion, students of different classes presented different sports items including Tour to Antarctica, Sprints, Pray for India, Slow Cycling, Journey to Japan, Skipping Race, Pony Race, Relay Race, Rhythm of Punjab, Twists and Martial Arts which were highly appreciated by the audience.
The Minister also distributed Gold, Silver and Bronze medals besides mementos among the winners.
Earlier, Mr. Bhalla inaugurated blood donation camp organized at Kachi Chawni in which 110 volunteers donated blood.
Former Minister Ch. Gharu Ram, senior advocate Mr. S. S. Lehar, medical and para-medical staff members, and locals were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhalla asked the people to resort to Acupressure treatment which is naturopathy for variety of diseases and free from side effects. He said Acupressure treatment is traditional Indian system of cure and has become a necessity in present times when the strong and high doses of medicines have caused a number of side effects in human beings.
Later, the Minister also visited Bhatindi and assessed the problems confronting the people including drinking water facilities at Osman, Gaziabad, Gulmarg and Madina Mohalla and replacement of damaged power supply wires in Balmiki Basti, installation of poles in Bashir Gujjar Basti and regular power supply in Babliana and Channi Rama.
Mr. Bhalla gave patient hearing to them and said Government has approved Rs. 10 lakh for construction of 50,000 gallon capacity ground water reservoir to meet the drinking water needs of Osman, Gaziabad, Gulmarg and Madina Mohallas of Bhatindi town. Regarding replacement of damaged power supply wires, he asked the PDD to immediately replace the wires so that the locals do not face any inconvenience. He said that coalition Government is fully aware of people’s problems and is making concerted efforts to provide all basic amenities at their doorsteps.
