| Bandh visits Pampore, Shopian, inspects ongoing works | | ‘Massive reconstruction programme aims at socio-economic transformation of the state’ | | Srinagar, October, 07 –Minister of State for R&B, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Mr Mohammad Khalil Bandh today visited various areas of Pampore and Shopian to inspect under execution works in these areas including mughal road, Khanka road, circuit house, filtration plant and government boys middle school Bohrihallen Payeen. Member Legislative Assembly Pampore, Mr Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Mr Mehraj-ud-Din Kakroo and a team of officers and engineers accompanied the Minister during his tour. While inspecting the pace of development on mughal road being executed at a cost of Rs 255 crore, the Minister was informed that construction of about 40 kms of road have been completed and rest of the work would also be constructed at the earliest. The Minister was also apprised that Rs 1.41 crore would be provided to the land owner as compensation at the earliest. The Minister was informed that Rs 46 lakh has been incurred on the construction of circuit house Shopian Chowgam so far out of an estimated cost of Rs 1.30 crore. He was informed that the building would have facility of two VIP rooms, meeting hall, dyning hall and attached bathrooms. At filtration plant Shopian, the Minister was informed that the repair work on the said plant has been started and would be completed by the end of December 2006. At boys middle school, Bohrihallan, the Minister was informed that temporary connection for providing of drinking water facility to the school would be provided within two days as the main water connection was recently disrupted due to construction of mughal road. The Minister was also informed that Chotipora water supply scheme under kandi programme has been sanctioned and the work on this scheme would be started soon and be completed by the end of November 2006. The Minister stressed upon the concerned engineers, officers and field staff to speed up of all on going works within a time bound manner. Interacting with the people during his visit, the Minister said that socio-economic transformation of the J&K State is the top priority of the coalition government. He said that the common minimum programme of the present government is being implemented in letter and spirit which envisages equitable development of all the three regions of the state including provision for basic amenities to the people at their doorsteps especially living in far-flung and backward areas of the state. Mr Bandh said that government has earmarked upon a gigantic development programme which has started yielding its dividends as new model village are emerging with all facilities including road connectivity, drinking water, parks, sanitation etc. for the convenience of the people. Referring to the development during past 4 years, the Minister said that a number of development projects have been taken in hand including mughal road project, establishment of several universities, opening of new colleges, schools and upgradation of hundreds schools with an radius of one kilometer, reconstruction of various infrastructure damaged in recent flood and earthquake and beautification of parks to attract the local people and lakhs of tourists and pilgrims visiting the state besides establishment of various tourism development authorities in the state. Enroute several deputations met the Minister during his visit and apprised him about their problems including providing of drinking water. He assured them that their genuine demands would be considered sympathetically in a phased manner. |
