| Taj reviews irrigation, drinking water facilities in Poonch, Rajouri districts | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, DECEMBER12- Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din today reviewed the availability of drinking water faculties in Poonch district at a high level meeting of officers here this morning. He also took stock of the irrigation projects under execution in the district.
The Minister directed the officers to speed up work on Water Supply Schemes in the district so that people in far flung areas are relieved of the drinking water problems. He asked for harnessing ground water where ever supply line was not possible.
Mr. Taj during the meeting took scheme wise appraisal of far flung areas like Haveli, Mendhar, Surankot etc. He asked the officers to take advantage of the schemes like Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme meant for providing drinking water facility in rural and inaccessible areas.
The meeting was told that 12 irrigation schemes are under execution in the district out of which 11 are targeted for completion.
Present in the meeting were Legislators Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Jan, Mr. Javid Rana and Mr. Rasheed Qureshi, Chief Engineer, PHE and Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Dalip Bakshi, Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic and Mechanical Poonch and other district heads of various Engineering Departments.
The Minister also took a similar meeting in respect of Rajouri district the other day which was attended by Minister of State for Power and MLA Rajouri, Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan, Legislators Mr. Rashpal Singh, Choudhary Zulfikar, Mr. Ravinder Sharma, Chief Engineer PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control and heads of several Engineering Departments of the district.
