Gul pays tributes to Sher-i-Kashmir

JAMMU, DECEMBER12 – Terming late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah as a visionary leader of all times who effected Agrarian Reforms and protected farmers from the clutches of landlords, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Mubarak Gul said the State is greatly indebted to the services of late leader . This he said while addressing a meeting to commemorate the birth day of the late leader.

While paying rich tributes to Sher-i-Kashmir, Mr. Gul remembered his services for empowering the people of the State particularly farming community. He said Sher-i-Kashmir was a visionary leader, who encouraged the tenants become land owners due to his revolutionary decision. Agrarian Reform Act conceived by him proved beacon light for other States of the country, he added.

The Advisor said that “Sher-i-Kashmir strived hard for establishing democracy in the State. He said that late Sheikh was a secular personality who never discriminated the people on the basis of caste, region or religion. He said that he opened Schools, Colleges and University for providing free education to the people besides, provision of single line administration in the State.
Paying rich tribute to Madr-i-Meharban, Mr. Gul recalled her services for upliftment of women by spreading education among them.

Mr. Gul reiterated the resolve of the Government regarding fulfilling the aspirations of the people, adding that equal opportunities of development in all the three regions of the State would be ensured. He said every effort is being made to extend the benefits of the developmental schemes at the grass roots level.
The Advisor said that the coalition Government under the dynamic stewardship of Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah is striving hard to rebuild basic infrastructure in the State. He hoped that the State will become a role model for rest of the country.
Earlier, a deputation of students of Law Department, University of Jammu called on the Advisor and apprised him about the situation arisen due to establishment of police post in the University premises. Mr. Gul assured them that he will take up the matter with the Chief Minister.
