| Select list of ISM doctors to remain in abeyance: HC orders | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec12- In a petition filed by ISM doctors challenging the selection of ISM doctors for various blocks of Doda District, Justice Mohammed Qaqoob Mir of Jammu and Kashmir High Court today issued notice to respondents returnable within four weeks. The Court ordered that in view of the stated position at this stage and on the principles governing the grant or otherwise the interim relief case is made for indulgence. As such, till filling of objections and determination, select list impugned shall remain in abeyance. High Court while issuing this order observed that pursuant to advertisement notice dated September 30, 2009 posts of ISM doctors were advertised for different blocks of district Doda under the National Rural Health Mission launched by the Union of India for betterment of rural masses. Petitioners also responded to the advertisement notice but their name did not figure in the merit list. The grievances of the petitioners is that three posts were advertised for medical block Ghat, one Block Assar, two for block Bhaderwah and three for block Gandoh. The petitioners are the residents of these blocks. They have been ignored as in the select list all the candidates are shown the residents of Block Bhaderwah, which according to the petitioners, run contrary to the very basic scheme and also runs contrary to the advertisement notice, wherein it is prescribed that the candidates should be resident of medical block where the health institution is located so as to ensure continuous presence of the doctor round the clock. Court after considering the view of the petitioners’ ordered that the impugned selection list shall remain in abeyance. JNF
