| PCC observe death anniversaries of Sadiq, Qasim, Lasjan | | | Early times Report Jammu, Dec 12: The 38th death anniversary of former chief minister of the state GM Sadiq and 5th death anniversary of another chief minister Sayeed Mir Qasim were observed at J&K Pradesh Congress Committee office here today. The senior party leaders and workers paid rich tribute to these leaders who were instrumental in bringing state close to rest of the country which opens the path for rapid development in the various field. Speakers re-calling the achievements of late Sadiq said that it was he who brought the state close to rest of the country by extending various laws to the state of J&K. He was a great visionary leader, able administrator and truly secular personality. It was Sadiq who founded state unit of the party in the state, being basic member of Muslim conference, he initiated the move to convert it into National Conference in 1931 session held at Sopore. Paying tributes to late Sayeed Mir Qasim on his 5th death anniversary, they described him a great states man and gentleman who were instrumental in bringing Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah to the main stream politics for the larger interests of the state and the nation. Gurmukh Singh while paying tributes said that the contribution of these two leaders has no match. Both had played a key role to bring state close to the centre and establish peace and prosperity in the state. Meanwhile rich tributes were also paid to another veteran congress leader and former minister GM Mir Lasjan on his 14th death anniversary who served the state as minister for a long time and was a dedicated congressman. All the three veteran leaders were the founding fathers of congress in the state and a symbol of secularism. The congress party and the people of the state are indebted to their great contributions, said Th. Hari Singh, vice president PCC who chaired the function. Prominent among those who attended the meeting and paid rich tributes were Parduman Singh, Amolak Singh, Indu Pawar, Anil Chopra, Maheshwar Singh, Bharat Gandhi, Raval Mattoo, Ashwani Puri, DS Langeh, BB Gupta and Vijinder Khajuria etc.
