| Malik meets former VC’s, seeks suggestions | | | Early Times Report Jammu December 13-Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Mr. A. G. Malik met former Vice Chancellors of Jammu University, Prof. M. R. Puri and Prof. Y.R. Malhotra and sought their valuable opinion for making further improvement in the system of Higher Education. During the interaction, the Vice Chancellors put-forth various suggestions including the appointment of permanent Controller of examination in the Universities, functioning of Director Colleges Development, arrangements for B.Ed colleges and introducing academic calendar. Introduction of computer courses in colleges, electronics and mathematics besides rationalization of staff in the colleges was also discussed in the meeting. The luminaries also suggested for starting functioning of colleges in two shifts, introducing additional courses and construction of quarters for college faculties. The Minister assured that the suggestions put-forth by the former Vice Chancellor would be given due considerations and their guidance sought for making the higher education vibrant and at par with other states. Mr. Malik said that the Government has resolved to make the Higher education affordable, adding that no stone would be unturned to streamline the system and bring it on modern liness.
