| Sham on marathon inauguration of health centers in Rajouri | | | Early Times Report Jammu Dec 13: To personally assess the medicare facilities available in hilly and remote areas, the Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma undertook a 2-day extensive tour of Rajouri district. MLA Kalakote, Mr. Rachpal Singh, MLA Darahal, Ch. Zulfikar Ali, MLC, Mr. Ravinder Sharma, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Jasbir Singh, Director, Indian System of Medicines (ISM), Dr. Abdul Kabir, Director Horticulture (Planning & Marketing), Mr. M.S.Qasba and other sectoral officers of Rajouri district accompanied the Minister. During the tour, the Minister laid foundation stone of Community Health Centre at Taryath, inaugurated newly constructed buildings of Primary Health Centres, Sial Sui Garan and 10- bedded additional ward in CHC, Kalakote. He also visited District Hospital, Rajouri, Community Health Centres, Moghla, Kalakote, Darahal and took stock of the functioning of these institutions. On this occasion, Minister said that the building of CHC, Taryath will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 7.50 crore. On completion the Centre will cater to the needs of over 50000 souls of over 15 villages, he added. This was a long pending demand of the people of this hilly area. He further said similarly, the buildings of CHC, Sial Sui and PHC, Garn have been completed at a cost of Rs. 27 lakh and Rs. 37 lakh respectively. Likewise, Rs. 16.50 lakh have been spent on the construction of additional ward of CHC, Kalakote. All the buildings including the residential quarters of Doctors and para-medical staff will be constructed within the premises of health institutions. At Darahal, the Minister approved the site for construction of new building of Sub-District Hospital and issued on-spot-instruct ructions to the engineers to immediately start the execution work. The Minister said that Rs. 2.30 crore have been earmarked for the building during the current fiscal. During the inspection of new building of District Hospital, Rajouri, the Minister was apprised that progress of execution work is in full swing and likely to be completed by the end of March,2010. He was apprised that initially the building was estimated to cost Rs. 36 crore, but with some cost escalation, the cost of the building was revised to Rs. 45.62 crore. The state-of-the art building will be a model in the district, the Minister was told. Mr. Sharma stressed the need for ensuring quality of work and make judicious use of funds. He asked to complete the project by ending March next. Addressing the people at different places, the Minister said that health is core area for the Government and there is no shortage of funds for this sector. He said that Government is committed to provide improved medicare to the people of rural and far-flung areas. He said that functioning of rural health institutions will be further strengthened and by the end of March next all vacant posts of doctors and para-medics will be filled up and necessary equipments will be provided. He said that 1200 posts of doctors and 2000 posts of health technocrats and para-medics have been cleared by the Finance Department and concerned recruiting agencies will be asked to fill them on fast track base so that basic health facilities are provided to the people. The Minister said that all District Hospitals will be adequately equipped to cater to the needs of patients suffering from all kinds of ailments. Doctors of all streams will be posted there and only critical patients will be referred to Tertiary Care Centres for specialized treatments. The doctors while referring the patient to bigger institutions will have to record the specific reason thereof. He said that work culture in all the institutions will be ensured and new mechanism to monitor the attendance of doctors and para-medics will be evolved. He sought people’s cooperation for ensuring the work culture in the institutions.
