Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 13- Advocating sustained and uninterrupted Indo-Pak dialogue, CPI (M) State Committee M Y Tarigami has said that political discourse was the only effective means to sort out differences and address problems for bringing lasting peace and stability in south Asia. “Discontinuous talk’s only benefit vested interests and disruption’s forces”, it observed.
He also stressed on strengthening internal dialogue process, calling for involving all political shades of opinion to thrash out Kashmir issue on a broader political spectrum. He was addressing the 2-day meeting of the party here today which was chaired by Ghulam Nabi Malik.
The committee after discussing threadbare the political scenario, observed that resolution of Kashmir issue needs to be deliberated on wider canvass for broader legitimacy. For the purpose, serious and result oriented parleys were must.
Tarimagi explained in detail the prevalent political and socio- economic situation in the state and stressed the need for organizing united struggle to get the genuine grievances of the people effectively redressed.
The party expressed deep concern at the galloping food price inflation especially that of essential commodities. Stressing the need for universalizing PD system, the Committee has called upon the government to procure food items from open market to tide over the grim situation in the State. “The money saved from the observance of austerity measures could be conveniently diverted and utilized for the purpose, it said.”
The Committee expressed deep concern over grim power scenario and demanded the government to earmark Rs 2 crore for each constituency for up-gradation of LT, HT network and other related infrastructure. It was urged upon the government to set up workshops at each Power Division in the state for timely repairing of damaged transformers besides keeping buffer stock of transformers available therein to uphold the promise made with the people.
Terming Sheri Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme SKEWP) for youth as narrowly conceived policy, the Committee called for approaching the Centre for securing a fixed quota of State’s youth in Public Sector and Central government departments as well as enhancing the Voluntary Service Allowance(VSA).
