| Galaxy of intellectuals, writers, scholars, professors, students participates in Gandhian workers function | | | Srinagar, October 07 - To pay the floral tributes to the October 08 earthquake victims, the Gandhian workers today organized a function at Amar Singh College, Srinagar. The function was attended by the large number of intellectuals, writers, scholars, prominent citizens and students of the college.
The Director Information who was the guest of honor on the occasion in his speech said that Gandhiji always stood for high principals of humanity. He said these high principles demand that all those who became victims of natural calamities whether in Gujrat earth quake or Kashmir earthquake should be rendered with great honor and respect. He said we all should follow the teachings of Gandhiji and serve mankind in such eventualities.
He appreciated the Gandhi workers for their tireless efforts made in this direction.
The president of Gandhian workers Mr. S. P. Verma also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the role of Gandhi workers and youth hostel volunteers led by Mr. Showkat Ashai during October 08 earth quake in the areas of Uri, Karnah and Poonch.
Another speaker Mr. Bashir Bashar in his speech pointed out that earthquake devastated the valley during past as well which is documented in historical books.
The Principal of the College also spoke on the occasion and threw light on theGandhian philosophy of teachings and advised the students to imbibe spirit of help for others particularly during the times of disaster and natural calamities.
The students of the college while paying floral tributes to the earth quake victims of October 08, 2005 of Uri, Karnah and Poonch took oath that they will devote their spare time always to help needy people where ever it is required. |
